How to discover Jesus Christ

Would you like to know what it is to be saved by Christ Jesus and what there is to be saved from? Do you really want to know Jesus, not just know of Him? Well here it is, God’s Simple plan for our salvation.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that who so ever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). That plainly says that God Loves us, and if we believe in Him as our Savior, we will be saved. Another verse tells us “He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18). That only begotten Son of God is Christ Jesus.

There it is, He loves us. He sent His Son to die in our place for sin.

The moment we accept Him as our Savior, we are saved from eternal damnation.

God is the Creator of the universe.

God is Holy, He is Just, He is Faithful, He is Love, He is Righteous, He is all Sovereign.

God created everything and He sustains everything.

The Bible reveals God created mankind in His own image. (Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.”)

Keep reading, as the following sections will tell you what God has done for us through His Son Christ Jesus.

Who is Christ Jesus. He is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16). “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” (John 14:6)

Christ Jesus is the Son of God, the Messiah, our Savior and Redeemer.

He was born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life, He died by crucifixion, He was buried. He rose from the dead and now is with the Father in Heaven.

He is the Savior of those who believe in Him as being sent to die in our place for sin, so we may be sinless in the sight of God Almighty.

He will return again, and receive those who trust in Him as their Savior, from hell, damnation and eternal separation from God Almighty.

Just before Christ Jesus left this earth, He promised that He would “send the Holy Spirit” to be with the saved persons and to always be with them – to guide and comfort them. That includes us, as redeemed and saved believers. Jesus said: “I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you” (John 16:7).

THE HOLY SPIRIT KNOWS US AND HELPS US IN OUR WEAKNESS.

THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS US OF SIN.

THE HOLY SPIRIT TEACHES US.

THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS THROUGH PRAYER.

THE HOLY SPIRIT REVEALS JESUS’ PURPOSE FOR US.

The Holy Trinity is comprised of the Father, His only Son Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

The Bible is the Holy Word of God.

It reveals the way of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of the unsaved, and the joy and security of the believers.

Christ Jesus is its main theme.

The Bible is essential for knowing God and His will for our lives.

The message of eternal salvation is a vital and dominant theme in the Bible; however, it reveals much more—including how God would have us live. Through the recorded examples of biblical figures, we can learn what pleases God and what does not. His Word also gives direct instruction to believers on how we should act in every circumstance.

God’s inspired and inerrant Word was given for many reasons: to teach us, rebuke us, correct us, and instruct us in righteousness; it was also given so that we may be complete and equipped for every good work. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

It also tells us that those who do not believe on His Word and accept It’s precepts, that those persons will never know the loving kindness of God, and that they are condemned to eternal damnation.

By reading the Bible on a consistent basis, you will better know God and can find direction for your life and learn how to best serve the Lord, Christ Jesus who gave His life for us.

The human race was created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) for fellowship with Him. In a historical event Adam and Eve fell from their good relationship with God through sin. As a consequence of sin, there is a divine curse on “the whole creation” (Romans 8:22-23) and all descendants of Adam became spiritually dead through having inherited a corrupt nature of sin, Christ being the exception.

Heaven is a literal place and it is the dwelling place of God. His throne is there, the angels are there, and the Lord Jesus Christ is in heaven. Philippians 3:20 says very plainly that the citizenship of all saved people is heaven.

Hell is a literal place of torment to which the wicked go for eternity (those who do not accept Christ Jesus as their Savior and redeemer). Hell is where non-believers experience physical and mental torment in the forever burning lake of fire. They are forever banished from God’s presence. Hell was created for Satan and his demons, but all who reject the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus will go there (Matthew 5:22; Matthew 10:28; Matthew 23:15, 33; Mark 9:43, 45, 47; James 3:6; Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:10, 14-15; Revelation 21:8).

When we receive Christ Jesus as our personal Savior, by calling upon Him in faith, we are saved from the penalty of our sin, and we enter the family of God, becoming the children of God. There is no other way to or for salvation (John 1:12-13; Romans 10:9; Acts 4:12; Acts 16:31; John 14:6).

1. Recognize your condition

“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). No one is good enough to go to Heaven on his own merit. No matter how much good we do, we still fall short. We are all sinners, and our sin is against God.

2. Realize the penalty for sin

“For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23). Just as there are wages for good, there is a punishment for wrong. The penalty for our sin is eternal death in a place called Hell (Revelation 20:14).

3. Believe Christ Jesus died for you

“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) Christ’s great love for us was shown when He died on the cross, was buried, and rose again to pay our sin debt, which is eternal death (Romans 10:9-10). If we could earn Heaven by good deeds, then why would Jesus have gone to the cross? He paid, in full, sin’s penalty that we deserve.

4. Receive Christ Jesus into your life.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9).

Becoming a Christian is not merely believing in some creed, going through rituals or going to church. It is putting our faith, our complete trust for salvation in Christ Jesus. When we accept Christ Jesus as our Savior – we are fully trusting in Him, depending on Him and relying on Him as our only Savior from hell and eternal damnation. At the time we accept Christ Jesus as our Savior and as the only way to Heaven, we are instantaneously cleansed by His blood which was shed on the cross for all sin, and are now redeemed into the family of God.

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)

It’s that simple, just trust, depend and rely on Him for Salvation.

Well, now you have the true meaning of Salvation. It’s free. The price of Eternal Salvation has been paid in full. You owe nothing. Just believe Christ Jesus, The Son of God, died in your place and God raised Him from the dead. That’s faith. Faith + nothing = Salvation. So now, what are you going to do about it? “Behold, now is the day of Salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). Now it’s up to you. If you desire to accept this free gift of eternal life with Christ Jesus, simply pray this prayer or a similar one and mean it in your heart:

Heavenly Father, I come to you in prayer asking for your forgiveness of my sins. I do repent of my sins and accept your Son Christ Jesus as my Savior from eternal separation from You. I confess with my mouth that Christ Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that You did raise Him from the dead. I will follow Christ Jesus and obey Him as Lord of my life. I do trust in Him alone for my Salvation from sin and death. I ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit in my daily life in doing what You would have me do. Thank You Lord for saving me from eternal separation from God!  Amen.

You have just made the most important decision of your life, your decision to accept Christ as your Savior. Your sins are now forgiven and you will go to Heaven. There is joy in Heaven because you are now saved. “Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God, over one sinner that repenteth.” (Luke 15:10)

You are not saved because you stop being a sinner. You are not saved because you go to church. You are saved because you received (accepted and trusted) Christ as your Savior. “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:” (John 1:12).

Before, you were in Adam’s family. Now, you are in God’s family. Before, you were in the human family. Now, you are in the heavenly family. Before, you were in the earthly family. Now, you are in the eternal family.

Once you become a son or daughter of God you will always be in His family. After you are saved you may have some doubt, however there is no need to fear. You are still saved. God does not put you out of His family because you do wrong. God, as your Father, will correct you, His child. Once you are born you cannot be unborn. At the very time you are saved, you are saved forever, having eternal life.

Just as your earthly father will always be your earthly father, your Heavenly Father will always be your Heavenly Father.

Saved means you are saved from Hell. When you die, you will go to Heaven because you are saved. Jesus died to save you from Hell. When you accepted Christ Jesus as your Savior you were given everlasting life. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8,9)

As a new born baby in God’s family you do not know all things. When you are saved you do not know all the Bible. You do not understand all the things of your heavenly Father. As a baby must learn to walk and talk — you must now start to grow into the ways of your new family.

God will forgive you and you can again have fellowship with God. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9) If you stay in your sin then God will chasten (punish) you. “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.” (Hebrews 12:6) You will feel bad in your heart until you repent of your sin to Him. This bad feeling is called conviction or feeling guilty in your heart.

When you do wrong and feel conviction, this shows you are saved and you just need to repent of your sin. When you confess your sins this means you are willing to stop and turn from your sins. Learn to quickly change your ways and do right as the Lord leads you. Sin always will make you unhappy. It will destroy your testimony, your fellowship with Christians, your fellowship with God and it will also ruin and destroy your Christian life.

Learn quickly to say ‘yes’ to the things of God and ‘no’ to the flesh, the self, the world, and the Devil. Stop your worldly habits and start your new life for God. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (II Corinthians 5:17)

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.  And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.  I and My Father are one.”  (John 10:27-29)

Do not join a church that teaches another gospel or different ideas. It’s easy to be fooled — so pray, be careful, and ask the Lord to lead you to the right church.  Decide to be a good, faithful Christian. Attend your church at all services, especially Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and the mid-week service.

You will learn much from the teaching and preaching. Remember, as a new born baby, you need to grow in the Lord. You need the church more than the church needs you. Love your pastor, teacher, and workers. Always have a good attitude and be a good church member.

As a saved believer in Christ Jesus, prayer should be the most important part of our lives. No matter what we are doing, we should always be in communion with God. In the morning, during the day and in the evening, we should always be praising and thanking Him for His presence in our lives.

When things are going well, and we are blessed, praise the Lord give thanks unto Him.

When things are not going as we’d like, when we are having troubles and heartaches, praise the Lord and give thanks unto Him. For the Bible says: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” (Philippians 4:6)

There are times when we find it difficult to speak with God about what is exactly on our minds. Well, not to worry. He already knows our thoughts. He has sent a comforter to be with us and to help us daily. The Holy Spirit, and He will help us in our daily lives as well as our prayer life.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27)

We’re not alone. Never. So, speak with Him and give thanks to Him. Let Him know of your needs and desires. He wants to hear of them from you. He is here for those who call upon His name.
